We have changed the meeting place for the June 16 (Sunday) Field Trip: Sandia Foothills Plants and Flowers, in order to visit a shadier location where a small stream has been flowing for the first time in years. This chance to check out riparian vegetation and flowers begins with a 1.2 mi. walk into the Cibola National Forest from the Elena Gallegos picnic ground and requires a short, rocky descent briefly using hands. We will meet on the east end of the Albertson’s parking lot at Tramway and Academy at 8:30, and carpool to minimize parking fees. Modest uphill walking will reveal at least 25 flowering species, various butterflies, ground-nesting native bees and great views.
