Carolyn Koury of the Gila National Forest will present on the federal Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) program, particularly as it relates to the 2025 Trout Fire, which burned approximately 50,000 acres in Grant County. The BAER program assesses fire effects on vegetation, soils, and watershed function, and executes immediate actions to manage unacceptable post-fire risks to critical values.
Program meetings will be hybrid whenever possible. To attend in person, come to Room 111 in Harlan Hall on the WNMU campus at 7:00 pm. Gila Chapter members will receive an email with the Zoom link. All others are also welcome in person or can request a link from gilanative@gmail.com
