May 31: Edible and Medicinal Plant Walk at Quarai is cancelled. But…

Archaeobotanist Pam McBride and herbalist Dara Saville offered us a leisurely stroll at Quarai (Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument) to explore edible and medicinal plants of the area. Sadly, the trip was cancelled for obvious reasons, but the National Park Service has been reopening this interesting area that has beautiful ruins and a rich cultural history, including the native use of many edible, medicinal, and materials-providing plants that still grow there. We suggest going on your own after consulting the informative website at https://www.nps.gov/sapu/index.htm.

We recommend that you plan personal field trips for weekdays, early in the morning, and keeping a safe distance from others who are not in your household. As usual, bring lots of water, hat and sensible clothing, and use sunscreen.
