Sunday, October 10 field trip, 1 p.m. — Pino Trail from Elena Gallegos Picnic Area

Tom Stewart will lead a walk from the Elena Gallegos picnic area into Cibola National Forest along the Pino Trail. We will visit three life zones and find the characteristic plant species in each. A stop at an ephemeral stream bed reveals vegetation commonly found at a much higher elevation. Total distance will be determined by consensus of those who participates, but expect a gradual climb of at least 400-500 feet.

To register, please call Lee Regan at 505-792-1479. We will meet at the Pino trailhead, which is at the furthest distance on the loop road from the toll booth at the end of Simms Park Road heading east from Tramway Blvd. NE. There is a $2 charge per car and parking is very limited near the trailhead. We will only wait for 5 minutes after 1:00 unless you stop and let us know you have to drive the loop again to find a parking space.
