for a presentation by Enrico (“Ric”) Rao about
Dyeing With Native Plants. Ric will be giving a
presentation on sourcing, manufacturing, and
using native dyes in the process of producing
colored yarns and textiles. These dyes use
vegetable, insect, animal, and mineral
substances and are produced as the native
people would have done centuries ago. This
presentation will cover the process of making
and using these dyes and will include all steps
from making the dyes to using them, with a
question and answer segment at the
program’s end.
6:30 pm – social half-hour with snacks &
beverages
7:00 pm – In-person meeting in the classroom
adjacent to the NMSU Herbarium on the NMSU
campus in the Biology Annex at 3080 Williams
Street. Free parking north and south of the
Annex after 4:30 pm
