Wednesday, May 7 – Albuquerque chapter meeting and presentation: Flora of Bosque del Apache: A tour of the Desert Arboretum and the Pollinator Habitat Enhancement Project, 7:00 PM

Cari Powell with Friends of Bosque del Apache will provide a visual tour of the Desert Arboretum and the Pollinator Habitat Enhancement Project at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge located in San Antonio, NM. Cari will talk about the restoration in progress at the Pollinator site as well as the larger River for Monarchs project in New Mexico led by the Institute for Applied Ecology. Learn about the native cacti, flowers, shrubs and trees at both Bosque del Apache sites as well as how you can be involved with these volunteer powered projects!

Bio: Cari Powell began volunteering at the Desert Arboretum in the fall of 2020 and has been on staff with the Friends of Bosque del Apache as the Desert Arboretum Manager since the fall of 2021. In the summer of 2023 Cari began managing the Pollinator Habitat Enhancement Project and in 2024 she added Festival of the Cranes Manager to her job titles. Cari has a passion for native Chihuahuan desert plants and loves sharing that passion with her cadre of dedicated volunteers who make both the Desert Arboretum and the Pollinator project possible! In her spare time she likes to ride her bike, hike, garden, spend time in her greenhouse and hang out with her bearded dragon Captain Crunch.
