Jack’s presentation, based on his book of the same name, introduces important concepts for arid-land gardeners, while highlighting wildflowers, grasses, vines, cacti, and trees. His engaging talk will appeal to gardeners of any skill level interested in choosing native plants for a garden that makes a positive environmental impact. Though there are vast differences between locations within this region there are also surprising commonalities that Jack will discuss, with a focus on northern New Mexico. He aims for his book to serve as a resource to new and old gardeners alike, providing up to date information about current best practices for gardening in the Southwest while advocating for ecologically-based urban landscaping.
