August 16, Saturday, Chamisa Trail from Hyde Park Rd, east of Santa Fe. Elevation gain is about 800 feet, easy to moderate, 3.5 miles round trip. This will be a Geo-Bio-Eco hike featuring flowers and shrubs of the Mixed Conifer Ecosystem and geology of the Proterozoic igneous and metamorphic rocks along the way. If time permits, we may see evidence of the Santa Fe asteroid impact structure. Meet at the Far North Shopping Center at San Mateo and Academy Rd. at 8:45 a.m., (park behind Wienerschnitzel).
