As part of our mission to promote the conservation of native plants and their habitats, we engage with government agencies and other key decision-makers.
Below, you can see a record of our correspondence. Click on the blue links to see the comments.
We encourage the public to submit their own comments on legislation and regulations that impact native plant conservation!
To support or oppose federal legislation, contact the congressional representatives for your state and let them know your thoughts. The federal government provides guidance on submitting written comments here: https://www.regulations.gov/commenting-guidance. Your comments should include information about why you support or oppose a particular regulation. Comments can be mailed or submitted electronically by looking up the docket number on https://www.regulations.gov. Federal regulations have public comment periods with clearly indicated end dates, generally 30-60 days from when the regulation was made publicly available.
To support or oppose state legislation, NM residents can learn to track bills at https://www.nmlegis.gov/Website_Tutorials?Video=MyRoundhouse. Contact your state legislators and let them know your thoughts. You can also attend committee hearings online or in person. Regulations have public comment periods at the state level, but comments are submitted through each agency, not through a central portal.
