Saturday field trip, Pino Canyon Trail — 8:00 a.m.

The Pino Trail parallels Pino Canyon though gently sloping high desert into Cibola National Forest in the foothills on the eastern flank of the Sandia Mountains. The scarcity of mountain snowfall this past winter means the canyon’s stream bed will be dry, but the transition from desert to riparian to woodland flora are a showcase of New Mexico’s floral diversity. No difficult climbing or rock scrambling. However, rattlesnakes are sometimes seen here. Total round trip will be up to four miles, depending on the group and weather.

Sorry, but this trip is now closed to additional participants!
