Scheduled Events for 2015
Meetings and programs are on the 2nd Wednesday of the month (unless otherwise noted) at 7 PM, in the Conference Room of the Social Center at the University Terrace Good Samaritan Village, 3011 Buena Vida Circle, Las Cruces (on the right, while traveling east on Buena Vida from Telshor). Field trips are always on a Saturday. Most field trips extend into the afternoon. Participants must sign a release of liability form. Children must be accompanied by their parents. Programs and field trips are free, and non-members are always welcome. Contact Carolyn Gressitt at 523-8413.
April 8, 7 p.m.
Meeting: Botanist Dr. Patrick Alexander will speak on his second-favorite biological subject—Lizards!
April 11, 8 a.m.
Field trip: We will travel to the Florida Mts. to see spring wildflowers. Meet at the U.S. Post Office in Fairacres.
April 25, 9 a.m.
Garden Tour: We will take a walking tour of home gardens including native plants, in the historic Alameda Depot district. Meet at Pioneer Park at 9 a.m.
May 13, 7 p.m.
Meeting: Lisa Mandelkern will present “Organ Mountains Flowers.”
May 16, 8 a.m.
Field trip: Lisa Mandelkern will guide us to a number of stops on “Westside Road,” along the Western Edge of the Sacramentos; it’s a good dirt road, so passenger cars OK. The drive is mostly through piñon/juniper land, crossing a few drainages that feature higher elevation plants. This is an all day enterprise. Meet at the east end of the Kmart parking lot.

July 8, 7 p.m.
Meeting: Dr. Kelly Allred will present “Words for Nerds.” Dr. Allred promises it will not be too long and boring!
July 11, 8 a.m.
Field trip: Lisa Mandelkern will take us to Hay Canyon in the Sacramentos. Meet at the east end of the Kmart parking lot. [Deadline for sign-up for WSMR trip in September].
