A Field Trip led by Jim Von Loh is planned for 9 a.m. Sunday, August 23, at La Llorona Park, to view Milkweed Restaurant sites. More information about this trip will be announced next week.
Meet at 9 a.m., Sunday, August 23, at La Llorona Park parking lot on West Picacho, south side of the bridge. Jim Von Loh will lead the walk, which will be on an easy, level trail for about one mile. Wear masks and practice social distancing. (Note: we will be sharing the trail with people walking, jogging, and bicycling but will use a parallel sandy surface along the asphalt trail’s east edge, ~6′ in width, to assure proper distancing; the asphalt trail is also ~6′ wide).
No carpooling available, unless arranged on one’s own. Bring water, comfortable walking shoes, sun protective clothing & hats, and cameras. We expect to see and interact with numbers of insects attracted to the milkweed flowers, among them are species of ants, bees, and wasps, however they have not shown an inclination to be aggressive to date, but we will try to not stand in any ant hills!! Trip will end about noon.
