Saturday, March 25th at 10 a.m. – Fig Lecture, Lunch, and Workshop with Lloyd Kreitzer, “The Fig Man of New Mexico”

Save the Date! March 25thThe Fig Man of New Mexico will be right here in the Tularosa Basin!

We are pleased to announce that the NPSNM – Otero chapter is teaming up with the Jornada Research Institute (JRI) and the Tularosa Arts and History Council (TAHC) in sponsoring an upcoming visit by Lloyd Kreitzer, “The Fig Man of New Mexico”. Lloyd Kreitzer will be lecturing on the fig trees that grow in this area (and elsewhere) followed by a workshop in the afternoon.

Many of you who live in Tularosa and in La Luz have fig trees in your yards and some are quite old, dating back perhaps to the late 19th century and even the founding of Tularosa and La Luz. Once established, these fig trees seem to tolerant of almost anything. Lloyd Kreitzer will talk about techniques of propagation, history of the fig tree in New Mexico, and possibly identify varieties that are found locally.

This event will begin at 10 AM and conclude at 2:00 PM, with lunch provided by your co-sponsoring organizations. It will be held at the Mano y Mente Building, 216 Granado Street, Tularosa, NM.

Cost: $10.00 per person for the morning lecture

$20.00 per person for the afternoon workshop,

Or $25.00 for both the lecture and workshop.

The included lunch will be catered and provided by the sponsors of this event, and registration information will be available soon.
