Retired Rice University Biochemist Ron Parry, the “moth man,” has had a passion for natural history since childhood. Since his retirement, he has been studying moths. Most of the larger moths found within the Gila region fall into one of eight moth families. This talk will summarize the characteristics of moths in each of these families and provide examples of local moths from each group. You will find that many moths are beautiful and as equally interesting as butterflies.
