Wednesday, March 8th at 7 p.m. Meeting – “Milkweeds and Insects” with Miranda Kersten

Miranda Kersten is a Program Manager with the urban integrated pest management (IPM) program at NMSU’s Agricultural Science Center in Los Lunas. Her work focuses on pollinator and beneficial insect conservation and helping people to attract more beneficial insects to their gardens. She received her Master of Science in Integrative Biology from Oklahoma State University, where she studied the effects of land management practices on a milkweed dependent moth and its parasitoids, and her Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management from University of Minnesota. She has also worked in invasive species removal and riparian restoration in New Mexico on national wildlife refuges throughout the state as a member of the New Mexico Invasive Species Strike Team and with the Save Our Bosque Task Force, a non-profit focusing on riparian issues in Socorro County.

Meet at the NMSU Herbarium. It’s on campus in the Biology Annex near the intersection of Stewart & Williams Streets (3080 Williams Street, Las Cruces). Free parking north and south of the annex after 4:30 p.m.

6:30 pm.  Social half-hour with refreshments.  Refreshments will also be available after the meeting.
